The Medical Physics IT Systems Administrator will provide front-line maintenance and support for all key radiation oncology systems. These systems include:
CT simulator control system;
radiation treatment planning systems;
radiation oncology information system;
linear accelerator control and imaging systems;
patient motion management system;
radiotherapy PACS platform;
secondary dosimetry verification systems;
quality assurance &
servicing database;
and radiation-related QA measurement software. This position will work closely with front-line oncology staff (e.G. medical physicists), internal stakeholders (e.G. hospital IT), external stakeholders (e.G. vendors), in order to ensure proper connectivity and functionality of these systems, as well as ensure maximal up-time to limit the impact on cancer patient treatment. When applicable, opportunities for clinical research &
development support work can be accommodated. This position reports to and is accountable to the Head of Medical Physics, Walker Family Cancer Centre.
**DUTIES**:
- Primary on-site contact for problem solving &
troubleshooting radiation-related systems issues
- Lead or participate in radiation-related systems installations, replacements, or upgrades
- Adhere to local / provincial / national guidelines and recommendations with respect to IT management and quality control of radiation-related systems
- Work with internal and external stakeholders for proper connectivity / integration / functionality of all key radiation oncology systems
- Contribute and provide expertise in clinical radiation oncology development projects and research
- Participate in radiation oncology automation working group
- Participate in radiation oncology program committees (e.G. incident reporting) where applicable
- Participate in procurement of radiation-related hardware / software
- Stay update-to-date with radiation oncology innovation through continuing education
- Assist/back up the Radiation Oncology Application Specialist when necessary
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor university or college degree in computer science, engineering, physics or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in or with a radiation oncology program
- Strong practical &
technical knowledge working with operating systems (e.G. Microsoft/Linux/Unix), database platforms (e.G. SQL), data networking, and physical/virtual server environments
- Certifications in Microsoft/Citrix/VMware or equivalent are desirable
- Experience with MOSAIQ (or related) oncology information system is preferred
- Experience with Pinnacle (or related) radiation treatment planning system an asset
- Experience with RT-DICOM data format and RT PACS platforms (e.G. MIM Vista) is preferred
- Experience with quality assurance and control procedures for oncology IT system management
- Strong programming experience (such as C, C++, Python)
- Strong and effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Self-directed with ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
