Day in The Life
- You might be wondering what you can expect in a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:
- Ensure all pertinent end user identification information is properly recorded, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
- Prioritize, schedule, and administer all instances where enhancements and defect resolution are required.
- Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
- Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
- Provide input to the Information Technology plans and directions and ensure on-going appropriate communication with other team members and leaders across the department.
- Meet with decision-makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Liaise with the Manager, Enterprise Applications, and internal and external clients in order to obtain the requirements of the numerous stakeholders of the operational systems and develop plans to achieve the negotiated deliverables.
- Provide accurate and timely administrative support functions including inventory of systems, and documentation
- Accountable for the maintenance (including lifecycle projects) of the Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS) and other airport technologies including:
baggage systems, displays, communications, security, parking and all other technologies which are needed to support the operations of the airport.
- Developing product roadmap and lifecycle plans to keep technologies current, secure and reliable
- Providing Maintenance and Support of Edmonton International Airport CUPPS environment, including but not limited to, CUTE, CUSS, FIDS, APC, PIK, BWIS, ITD, eGates, Self-Tagging Validation Systems, Public Address, Baggage Sortation System (SAC), Parking, Security, CCTV and Access Control and other Passenger/Airline/Airport related systems.
- Analyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure maximum availability of systems (mínimal downtime from unplanned system outages), rapid response &
recovery supporting business continuity, systems &
solutions that meet theneeds of the business, secure and convenient access to systems, and cost-effective solution delivery.
- Ensure optimal functionality of systems through close co-ordination with IT infrastructure and contracted support staff (contract management) to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards are achieved based on
