The Technical Manager, Steveston Interchange Project is responsible for managing the delivery of the technical engineering, safety, and construction components of the Steveston Interchange Project (SIP). The Technical Manager will hold a leadership role and oversee the work of a multi-disciplinary team of employees and consultants in order to successfully deliver assigned aspects of the Project.Key Accountabilities:
Oversees the execution of the design, construction, and safety disciplines of the project.Provides leadership, support, and coordination on a multi-disciplinary project team specifically to the Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Project Scheduler, and Quality Manager.Proactively plans and establishes priorities for the engineering and design workstreamManages the Owner’s Engineer contract(s) specific to SIP, including assigning and scheduling work, monitoring progress, and managing changes on approved tasks.Works collaboratively with the Design-Builder’s team of design and construction resources and ensures that Province interests are maintained from design to construction and handover.Ensures the ongoing implementation of tools and processes for monitoring progress, measuring performance and tracking variances from allocated budgets and schedules.Coordinates the flow of technical information between the Technical Team, other project team members, and third-party stakeholders as required.Oversees the monitoring, tracking, and review of the Design-Build contractor’s technical and design plans, methodologies, documents, drawings, and scheduling changes.Manages the internal design review process by delegating review responsibilities among the project team and developing a consolidated response for review by the Project Director.Provides advice, guidance, and support on technical issues.Reviews engineering and deliverables and initiates and guides appropriate corrective action to address issues or problems throughout the project delivery lifecycle.Develops and maintains a broad range of stakeholder relationships to achieve project objectives including leading sessions.Oversees the preparation of technical advisory information and materials to support engagement activities with the public and stakeholder groups (e.G., businesses and municipalities).Makes presentations and provides advice to senior management on project status.Qualifications:
Bachelor of Engineering degree and significant related experience in the delivery of large multi-disciplinary projects, or the equivalent experience and education.Related experience may include:
Leading provincial projects involving a diverse range of project portfolios;
Managing engineering, design, construction and safety workstreams;
Preparation and administration of consulting contracts;
Supervising/leading multi-disciplinary teams in a professional environment;
Managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and engagement sessions;
andBudget management.Proven project management skills and demonstrated experience in risk management.Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.Notes:
