New Directions Community Residential Facility, (CRF) provides residential support to adult male offenders who are conditionally released to the community. The Housekeeper supports the mission of The Salvation Army by fulfilling cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a healthy environment for residents and staff of the facility.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Verbal and Written Communication**:
- To complete monitoring checklists
- To ensure that supply lists are maintained and up to date
- To report health and safety issues to a supervisor
**Reporting**:
- Complete supply monitoring forms;
checklists and hazard reporting
**Duties**:
- Complete tasks related to housekeeping, including washing floors, sweeping, dusting and vacuuming
- Prepare rooms for incoming clients, including making beds, cleaning and changing linens
- Maintain the general upkeep of the building and external property
- To coordinate duties with the Head Housekeeper
- Adhere to the procedures for universal precautions
- Adhere to the facility’s Fire Safety Plan and emergency procedures
- Ensure that all policies and procedures for the health and safety of the facility are followed for the use and storage of chemicals used for cleaning in accordance with WHMIS
- Work in compliance with OH&
S Act and Regulations and abide by the Health and Safety policies of The Salvation Army
- Perform other position related duties as required
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
- This is a temporary full-time position based on **5 hours per week, hours are flexible**. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. This is a continuous operation (24/7) facility
- Performs housekeeping and cleaning duties in a community residential facility for adult male offenders
- Duties require lifting up to 20 lbs.
- No travel required
**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
- Completion of Secondary School Diploma
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention training or conflict management an asset
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
**EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE**:
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience in housekeeping and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance
**SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES**:
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Participate in ongoing training
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.E., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance through Correctional Service Canada required
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
