Training Specialist Company Summary:

Cad Railway has other facilities in Calgary, Lethbridge (under Caltrax banner) and has recently been selected by the ONxpress Transportation Partners association to provide all legacy fleet maintenance services for the Metrolinx rail fleet of approximately 1000 bi-level coaches and 90 locomotives. Cad Railway’s delivery team will operate and maintain Metrolinx’s rail maintenance facilities in Etobicoke and Whitby, as well as in multiple overnight along with mid-day light servicing facilities located across the Metrolinx train service area.Summary of the role:
The Training Specialist will be responsible for providing hands on and subject matter training within the Metrolinx Legacy Fleet Maintenance operations. This individual will report to the Manager- People Development and Training and provide training support across the project. The specialist will work collaboratively with the site leadership and management team to ensure all areas of training are supported.Core Accountabilities:
Responsible for all aspects of training delivery to a diverse workforceTreat employees with respect and dignity while ensuring the needs of employees with disabilities are accommodated in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related OrdersGuide and support the leadership team on all aspects of trainingEducate clients and/or employees to ensure it is a safe environment while communicating the best practices in terms of operations, inspections and troubleshooting customers’ productDesign effective training programsProvide instructions, direction, guidance and advice to employees during on-the-job trainingDevelop assessment strategies that will evaluate the progression and learning comprehension of the traineesDevelop and identify training and recertification programs that ensures compliance with safety rules and regulations pertaining to Fleet Maintenance operationsOversee the development, testing and implementation of software solutions, when required and/or possibleImprove organizational efficiencies pertaining to maintenance and troubleshootingLiaison with project managers to determine training needs and schedule training sessionsDevelop and update evaluations based on feedback on the trainingMaintain accuracy of training records and ensure training related policies are in accordance with the necessary guidelinesSupport the development as well as implementing company policies and regulations focusing on promoting a safe and healthy environmentEnsure that all Training related policies are followed in accordance with the established guidelinesAdvise the Manager- People Development and Training of any developing issues or potential issues that could arise in a timely mannerProduce timely and quality periodic reports that are required for the Senior Manager-Human Resources and Sr. Maintenance ManagerAbility to create, track and present overall Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years Railway industry and/or Light Rail Transit, Fleet Maintenance operations experience or related industriesMinimum 3 years in a Training position that required the development &
delivery of training material &
procedures, preferably in the Railway or Light Rail Transit industries (or related industries)Must hold a valid G class Ontario drivers licenceEffectively deliver a variety of training programs in classroom and in actual work situationsAbility to to read, comprehend and explain complex, technical information and operating proceduresExperienced in dealing with a diverse workforceCapable to multitask, prioritize effectively and make decisionsDisplay excellent presentation &
communication skills both oral &
writtenStrong organizational skills, problem solver and leadership skillsAbility to deliver training both one on one and in group settingsExcellent knowledge and understanding of applicable government workplace legislations (Ontario Human Rights code, OH&
S, Fit for Duty, AODA etc.)Strong knowledge of the MS Office and MS PublisherNice to have:
