As a Vineyard Hand, you will be an integral part of the process of assisting the winemaker with ultimately producing high-quality wine. Your daily tasks will involve physically tending to the vineyard, ensuring that the plants are healthy, and the fruit is of the highest caliber. We will teach to have a better understanding of vineyard maintenance and machinery operations, as you will be responsible for pruning, tying and managing the canopy of the vines.
Your duties may also include assisting picking the grapes during harvest season and planting new vines when necessary. You will be expected to work as part of a team, communicating effectively with other team members ensuring that the vineyard is operating smoothly and efficiently.

Reporting to the winemaker, the Vineyard Hand will be involved in all aspects of tending to our vineyard.
- Primary responsibility will be assisting the Winemaker with pruning, tying and managing the canopy of the vines. At times you may be required to assist with planting, cultivating, an/or harvesting grapes.
- You'll be tasked with assisting with vineyard canopy to permit light and air circulation. You'll be thinning the fruit and removing shoots, leaves and vines.
- You'll also be tasked with vineyard maintenance activities including but not limited to weed control and trellis installation and repair.
- At times you will be installing and maintaining bird netting.
- You'll be taught how to learn the skills and knowledge of what, when, where and how much to prune on a grape vine. Identify and remove the proper canes and vines while retaining the fruiting wood and renewal spurs. We'll be expecting the individual to demonstrate and consistently utilize pruning practices learned that assure vine balance and preserve vine health.
- Assist with general property maintenance and presentation including but not limited to mowing, cutting and weeding the fields.
- Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation and other manual tasks.
- Assist/move harvested fruit from field to processing area.
- Bending, stooping and kneeling required.
- Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers and saws.
- Lift, carry and load/unload products or supplies. Workers must be able to handle, lift and carry heavy or bulky objects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified lifting requirements.
- Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs.
- Adhere to all health and safety programs for the vineyard and winery.
- Maintain good working order and cleanliness of all equipment.
- Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and safety shoes/boots.
- Outdoor work required when plants are wet, or during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary.
- Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations.
- Work is done outdoors for long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standing and/or walking, repetitive movements and frequent bending and/or stooping.
- Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision.
- Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions and other factors.
- Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination.
- May perform general indoor tasks or post-harvest activities when outdoor vineyard work is not available (all such activities will be performed incident to or in conjunction with vineyard operation)
- Assist in daily retail experience event setup/tear down as required.
