Pacific Northern Gas Ltd., a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities, owns and operates natural gas transmission and distribution systems. The Company’s western transmission line extends from the Spectra Energy gas transmission system north of Prince George to Kitimat and Prince Rupert and provides services to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd. provides gas distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.

Gas Plant Operator

Pacific Northern Gas Ltd.'s Operations department in the Northeast has an opening for a Gas Plant Operator in Tumbler Ridge, BC.

Duties &
Responsibilities:

• Ensure safe and efficient operation of gas plant.
• Carry out routine repairs, running maintenance and operating tasks as required.
• Maintain accurate logs, records and reports of plant maintenance and operations.
• Carry out daily operating routines and upkeep of gas plant.
• Assist in major mechanical maintenance of plant equipment and appurtenances.
• Maintain safe work environment.
• Maintain concise records, logs, reports and files of the operating and maintenance activities at the gas plant as directed by and/or in the absence of the Senior Gas Plant Operator.
• Environmental awareness – eliminates, reduce and/or clean up all environmental incidents. Report as per P&
  P.
• Assist other employees/departments as directed. (i.E., make safe, urgent, and emergency situations as related to pipeline work, sales, and service tasks etc.)
• Supervise contract personnel on site as directed by Senior Gas Plant Operator, and/or as directed by management.

Qualifications Required:

• Grade 12 or equivalent education
• Certificate in 4th Class Power Engineering
• Certificate in Gas Process Operations
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical or natural gas operations
• Valid B.C. class 5 driver’s license

This position is within our bargaining unit (IBEW).
