- Responsibilities
- Extensive experience with program facilitation.
- Experience supervising a diverse combination of volunteers, full time staff and auxiliary staff simultaneously.
- Experience managing a budget, approving time sheets and expenses.
- Conducting annual performance appraisals.
- Experience recruiting volunteers using a variety of established recruitment methods, including social media.
- Experience with onboarding, training, and facilitating orientations for new hires/new volunteers.
- Demonstrated ability to screen volunteers, determine suitability, and organize complex schedules to accommodate youth and program needs.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, strengths-based management and engagement.
- Significant experience maintaining records of all volunteer personnel data, including assignments and hours.
- Knowledge of and/or experience collaborating with the public school system and of approaches to supporting youth with unique educational needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with youth, as well as parents, secondary school teachers and other school staff, as well as other educational professionals.
- Supporting the goals, projects &
initiatives of the organization and day-to-day operations as required.
- Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in education, volunteer management, or Child and youth Care diploma. Plus 2 years’ experience working with diverse youth populations, or a combination of related education and work experience with youth.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the challenges and strengths, capacities, and assets of various populations living in the Whalley, Guildford and the Downtown East Side neighborhoods, with a particular focus on factors affecting educational success for youth from diverse backgrounds in the communities.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.
- Standard first aid certificate and CPR
- Please note that this position requires evenings and flexible hours.
